Fourth Grade Common Core Workbook

4TH GRADE COMMON CORE WORKBOOK
 http://corecommonstandards.com/core-curriculum/fourth-grade-common-core-workbook/

This book is a great resource with every common core standard located into easily identified strands.  It has great resources for stations, whole group and centers.  It is very visually appealing.  Each common core standard has its own page to display during the day to serve as a referral point during the lesson.  One of the best features is the pdf version which is very user friendly due to the fact that it lets you click on the standard and it takes you instantly to the page(s) that deal with the standard.  This is a very convient feature since the is a heavily packed resource book with over 600 pages.

Opening of the 2009-2010 Schoolyear

Another summer has come and gone and school is back in full swing! Open houses for all grades are now finished and students are settled into their new classrooms. The new year has opened with a very smooth start! There have been a few questions about the school's new K-5 Inclusion program. To learn more about it, visit the Principal's Office link on the the school's homepage www.westsideelementaryschool.com There you will find a description of the program and a link to view the latest test score data for Westside. We are very proud of all the progress the students have made over the last four years!!!!!
Probably the next big event coming up for the school is the fall Parent/Teacher conference. It is schedule for September 16th from 12:00-6:00pm. Be on the lookout for deficiency reports to come home Friday, September 11th. Please make plans now to set aside a few minutes on Sept. 16th to visit your child's teacher to discuss their progress!!!

Pre-K applications have been reviewed and the available 18 slots are now full. 2 students will return from last year giving us the maximum of 20 students in the class. Again this year, we had many more applications than slots. So, we will be maintaining a waiting list should students move out of the program during the year. If you have any questions about Pre-K, please don't hesitate to call or email(email address is linked on front page of school site).

Remember that Aug. 10 is only a short time away!! Registration will be held that day from 8:00-10:00am on that day. It is very important that we know whether your child will be attending school at Westside for the 09-10 school year, so please plan to attend!!!

Parents are beginning to email me with various questions about school-please keep it up!!! I want to hear from you and answer any questions you may have about starting school! Let's have a great year!!!

Summer Fun

I hope everyone is having a great summer! Things at Westside are going well and the school is getting some much needed painting. Already this summer, several classrooms, the gym bleachers and wall, an Intervention lab, and the outside front windows have been painted. Ms. Betty's office is being painted this week.

Teachers are busy enjoying summer break and attending professional development sessions on the new state standards so they are prepared to challenge students to meet and exceed these new rigorous state expectations when school resumes!!

It's hard to believe that it's already July 4th holiday! Hope everyone has a happy and safe weekend!
